📄️ Sensors and Reconnaissance
This category assesses a team's ability to integrate sensors, gather data, and perform complex tasks based on that data. For most challenges, points are awarded based on the highest level of difficulty achieved; points for lower levels in the same category are not cumulative. The Payload challenge is an exception, where points are awarded for each completed sub-task.
📄️ FAA Rules and Navigation
This category assesses a team's foundational knowledge of drone safety regulations and their ability to execute core flight maneuvers with precision and control. Points are awarded for both demonstrating knowledge and successfully completing flight tasks in the competition arena.
📄️ Engineering Notebook
The Engineering Notebook is your team's story. It is a document that chronicles your journey from the initial concept to the final competition-ready drone. It should detail your design process, celebrate your breakthroughs, and, most importantly, document your challenges and how you overcame them. A well-maintained notebook is the hallmark of a great engineering team.
📄️ Design Scoring
To reward teams for their creativity, technical skill, and hard work, we will be judging several design categories. This section breaks down how your team can earn points for your base station, codebase, and drone construction.
📄️ Congeniality Bonus
Towards the end of the competition, each team will be prompted to submit their nomination for the Congeniality Bonus. The Congeniality Bonus allows teams to award up to 5 points total to up to 5 other teams which they feel are deserving of a bonus, either for following the Aerospace Jam Ethos, or being especially friendly or helpful to other teams in helping them troubleshoot or otherwise solve issues that they may experience on competition day.
